As per CBSE norms a student has to complete 15 years of age on Ist June of the year in which he / she takes the Secondary School Examination. A child seeking admission to class I should complete 5 years and should not be above 7 years of age on first June of the year in which admission is sought.

The only acceptable proof of age is the certificate of birth issued by the authority competent to register birth viz Panchayat / Municipality / Corporation. Date of birth shown in TC issued by a recognised school is also acceptable. Certified extracts about the date of birth from the service records of defence service personnel will be honoured.
